Meet Our Director – Mike McCormick
Mike is a former Division I player at Kent State University who started and lettered in the mid-1980s. He earned All-State honors while playing high school ball at Clarkston High School under legendary coach Dan Fife. Mike and his brother Tim, a 10-year NBA veteran, have been running basketball camps in the area for 30 years.
McCormick Basketball started in 2005 when Mike began coaching his young children in various recreational programs and realized a community need for a program that focuses on the basics in a fun and engaging way. He decided to rent a gym and begin teaching the fundamentals to his son’s school aged friends. In no time, the program reached its capacity solely through word-of-mouth.
Mike is a Vice President with Erickson Senior Living and the former executive director of Fox Run in Novi. He is also the author of “ManQuest: Launching Teenage Boys into Manhood”, a workbook designed for fathers and mentors to guide their sons toward manhood (available on Amazon).
